Homemade termite control may include one or more of many different potential treatment methods. By "homemade termite control" we are basically speaking of non chemical solutions to the pest control problem at home. But any attempt such as this to get rid of an active infestation in or around the home using homemade methods must be measured primarily based on its success and not on its cost.

There are ways for homemade termite control to make use of some of the most successful substances and still limit environmental damage. For example, boric acid is a major ingredient in most termiticides, yet it is all natural. Boric acid is extremely effective at getting to colonies because workers bring it back and kill others they are trying to feed.

Homemade Termite Bait Traps

Regardless of what substance is used, the best way to try to overcome infestation is to create homemade bait traps. Trying to create impermeable barriers with chemicals or other solutions might not be practical because as homeowners we do not have access to the same materials and equipment that the experts have. But bait traps are something we can do. The process is pretty straightforward. Apply poison such as boric acid or other substance to a termite bait, whether wood or some other cellulose material. Bury it near the location of a colony. Monitor it to see if the termites locate and take the bait. And simply keep adding bait as the pile goes down. Over time if the treatment is effective, the entire colony will be eliminated.

There is no complicated scientific formula to homemade termite control. Applying bait is a great way to limit the use of chemicals or other substances to a specific area. Sticking with things that work and not tying to overcomplicate things tends to be the best way to achieve the desired result as a homeowner battling a termite population.
